Ant diet - The best eating !

Dear Qantas,

Ant diet: I hand over the report / experience ants in the sixth year. I have to prove my theories and answer questions. My hypothesis is that ants do not eat sweets. My question is this research, are ants picky about their food? My mother and I have read the information www.live-ants.com.

Find information on ant diet the types of ants and the food they eat. I'm supposed to talk about who discovered it? More research led me to Dr. Brian Fisher. It was identified as the discovery of 12000. different species.

Can you help me answer who discovered that ants eat ant diet, when, where and how this discovery or resource report may be missing. Not able to find my answers. There is also a specific ant that I can buy to test my hypothesis?

Thank you for your help.

Stephanie

Dear Stephanie,

Thank you very much for your question ant diet! As you have seen, there are many species of ants. In fact, if one includes species that have not yet been described, the number may be even closer to 24 to 28.000! It will take time to see all these ants, so for most ants, we have no idea of what they eat ant diet.

For most of the ants that live around houses, observations of their preferences ant diet are so easy that very few people have published detailed studies of their plans. Wonder who was the first to observe an ant eating something sweet is something like asking who was the first to observe rabbits eat vegetables.

Even if I find out who was ant diet the first person to write about rabbits eat vegetables, would be reluctant to give them credit for "discovering" it! In addition, as he learned, there are many, many species of ants, more than the number of species of birds! Ants live in many different places and eat a lot of different things ant diet.

According to evolutionary biologists ant diet, the last common ancestor of all ants may have been rebuilt in the age of dinosaurs, around the same time, modern birds may have started to diversity (about 50 million years), and perhaps before the origin of modern mammals (not more than twice as ant species of mammals!) asking who discovered what ants eat is a little like asking who discovered what birds or mammals eat ant diet. Without being more specific, you have a hard time!

That said, many researchers have

ant diet made some very interesting research on specific food preferences of ants. In another post, we are today, Dr. Mike Kasper explains why some ants can be attracted by the salt fresh bait (read more here) ant diet.

In previous studies, Dr. James Brown (no relation to the funk / rock singer) showed ant diet how important competition was between ants and rodents seed in the desert communities of the southwestern United States (overview of experiences, here and here).

Dr. Corrine Mora and Jacob Russell and his colleagues ant diet have discovered how it can be important for certain types of bacteria that live inside some ants, so ants can get all the nitrogen they need only bacteria convert the nitrogen in the air eating ants can use (more)! Other authors have studied what is the best ratio of food to feed the ants. For example, Dissector and Simpson published the recipe ant diet of a regime that, according to them, were their happiest ants (click here for link).

These four studies ant diet show how the environment can change what ants need to eat (Kasper), how ants can change the environment for other animals to compete with them for food (Brown), how ants and bacteria can work together to make food for the other (Russell and Mora), and what might need ant diet basic nutrients are ants (Dissector and Simpson).

The important thing to ant diet remember about ants and the food they want to eat something, is that like us, they need carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and many vitamins and minerals. Ants definitely need salt, for example, and calcium.

Some ants usual with those ant diet who drink sugar water from different parts of plants, but most ants also eat foods rich in fat, high in protein, such as peanut butter, and dead insects. It all depends on what nutrients they need most right now.

Ant diet: Some ants are strict predators, and will more or less ignore everything that does not move. Leaf cutter ants to actually chew the leaves are cut into something like paper ache, and use this material to grow fungus garden (They are the worlds first gardeners - they discovered agriculture millions years before us).

If you give us some information about ant diet where you live, we might be able to help you with specific plans of ants that you might be able to find at home. Many of the best Ant Farm ants are the "seeds" harvester ants of the genus Agronomy, Messer and Phonograms.

These ants sip sugar, but also must meet the seeds to feed their larvae. As the ants you may already have at home, ant diet structure infesting ants (or any of Story Hedges books) has a number of marks in the food preferences of ants commonly found in U.S. homes. If you live in North America, let us know and we might be able to identify other general references ant diet.

So to summarize, if you have a type of ant, you might be able to discover the best characterized the ant diet different foods they eat ants. You may want to refer to other blogs here on specific aspects of food ants here, here, here, here, and here. About specific ant, it may be easier to simply ant diet place a bait in an open jar and try to catch ants!

If you know a place that there are ants around, you can get lots of small packages. I used jars of baby food, but I'm sure he would do anything, provided ant diet you have steep smooth walls. Just put a bunch of them with different types of food in a place where you know there are ants (Beg every 5 steps along a wall), and choose three or four hours late! Then you can see what types of foods are more ants. My favorite is the peanut butter used, but other people think tuna works well, or some kind of nut butter cookie.

For sweets, you can use honey ant diet, jelly, or any type of solution of sugar and water.

Hope this helps!
